Damping Capacity of Hypo-Eutectic Zn-Al Alloys

چکیده
Damping capacity of hypo-eutectic Zn-Al alloys as a function of rolling ratio is investigated. Effect of heat treatment after cold rolling on the damping capacity is discussed. Damping tests were carried out using the method of the free decay of vibrations in bending oscillation. With an increase in rolling reduction, the damping capacity was increased. As the results of tensile and hardness testing show, the elongation was increased and hardness was decreased with an increase in rolling reduction. An increase in the damping capacity indicates higher value for the as rolled alloys with an accompanying work-softening effect. And the increment in the damping capacity by rolling was higher than that of the heat treated alloys. As a results of the microstructural analysis of the alloys, the grains of as rolled alloys were changed to equiaxed structures after a large rolling reduction. And the grains of the heat treated alloy was coarsened during the heat treatment. Tensile testing revealed that the maximum strain rate sensitivity, rn, was 0.35 for Zn-5%Al after 85% rolling reduction.

Growth directions in directionally solidified Al–Zn and Zn–Al alloys near eutectic composition
Growth directions and crystallographic orientations of solidification microstructures have been measured in Al–Zn alloy near the eutectic composition. Al dendrites in Al–92 wt.% Zn alloy were found to grow along the h110i directions while Zn dendrites in Al– 96 and 98 wt.% Zn have h10 10i trunks. In the lamellar eutectic, a crystallographic relationship has been found between the dense plane of...

As a continuation of diffraction work on melts from eutectic binary systems such as Al-Sn [1], Au-Co [2], and Bi-Cu [3] an investigation of melts from the eutectic system Sn-Zn by means of neutron diffraction will be described in the present work. The liquidus lines in the constitution diagrams of these systems always show a point of inflection, so th a t segregation tendency in molten state is...

A solidification processing approach to the refinement of lead-tellurium-antimony alloy microstructure is described. Liquid alloys with eutectic, hyper-eutectic and hypo-eutectic compositions (relative to lead) were cooled to the solid state in three distinct ways, i.e. by water quenching, air cooling and furnace cooling. The structures of the alloys resulting from the three different solidific...
متن کاملDamping Characteristics of Inherent and Intrinsic Internal Friction of Cu-Zn-Al Shape Memory Alloys
Damping properties of the inherent and intrinsic internal friction peaks (IFPT + IFI) of Cu-xZn-11Al (x = 7.0, 7.5, 8.0, 8.5, and 9.0 wt. %) shape memory alloys (SMAs) were investigated by using dynamic mechanical analysis. The Cu-7.5Zn-11Al, Cu-8.0Zn-11Al, and Cu-8.5Zn-11Al SMAs with (IFPT + IFI)β3(L21)→γ′ 3(2H) peaks exhibit higher damping capacity than the Cu-7.0Zn-11Al SMA with a (IFPT + IF...
